4TH YEAR STUDIES IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

Students enrolling into a 4th year programme within the School are expected to complete a research project and a number of higher-level units. The exact composition and number of the units is governed by the degree the student is enrolled in:

Students enrolled in a joint degree should consult the relevant handbook entry for their joint degree.

Official dates concerning enrolments can be found at the Student Administration web-site. All withdrawals after the relevant date will be classified as withdrawn deemed failed. Please consult with the 4th Year Coordinator before withdrawing from a unit or withdrawing from the 4th year course.

The number of type of 4th year units offered within the School varies from year to year. Subject to interest, ten units will be presented in 2008 (end-on honours students may only undertake units listed in italics):

Semester 1:

CITS4211 Artificial Intelligence (Cara MacNish and Ryszard Kozera)
CITS4220 Software Quality and Measurement (Terry Woodings)
CITS4240 Computer Vision (Ryszard Kozera)
CITS7200 Scientific Communication (Lyndon While) - compulsory for all end-on honours students
CITS7211 Modelling Complex Systems (Rachel Cardell-Oliver and George Milne)

Semester 2:

CITS4222 Software Engineering Industry Project Leadership (Terry Woodings)
CITS4230 Internet Technologies (Cara MacNish)
CITS4242 Game Design and Multimedia (Rowan Davies and Wei Liu)
CITS7212 Computational Intelligence (Cara MacNish and Tim French)
CITS7219 Advanced Topics in CS: Mobile and Wireless Computing (Chris McDonald and Rachel Cardell-Oliver)

Students enrolled in either the Bachelor of Computer Science or the Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering) must also complete a Professional Practicum.
