Project: In-Network Data Processing in Sensor Networks
Supervisor(s): Rachel Cardell-Oliver
Project status: complete semester 2, 2005

Wireless Sensor Networks measure environmental events via small remote processing units. These units take sensor readings and transmit the data back across the network to a base. Communicating data consumes alot of energy from the units limited battery; so developing ways to reduce the amount of tramsitted data will conserve power and extend the life of the network. This project aims to create a technique of compressing recorded data without removing important trends of the underlying data series.
