Project: Resource Management in the GOANNA Computing Environment
Supervisor(s): Nick Spadaccini and Gary Bundell (Electrical)
Project status: complete semester 2, 2005

This project aims to discover useful algorithms for managing the limited resources available on a distributed system. This is a industry project in co-operation with the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, as part of their GOANNA project that is currently under development. Both static (prior to execution) resource allocation and dynamic (during execution) resource management will be investigated. This research is needed to improve the effficiency and robustness of the cluster, thus allowing it to handle larger numbers of components more easily. An additional outcome of the project will be an implementation of the algorithms for deployment on a real cluster.
