Project: Agent Matchmaking Based on Semantic Web Technology
Supervisor(s): Wei Liu
Project status: complete semester 2, 2005

Web service matchmaking is the process of returning the service providers who offer the requested service to the service requester in a web enviroment. Traditionally, WSDL(Web Services Description Language) is used to describe the service. Limitation in WSDL allows only keyword based matching with no semantic relationship. This limitation limits the types of matching that can be made, and the type of result return are usually restricted. The significance of the project is to develop and incorporate existing object-based matching into web service matchmaking in order to present an efficient, accurate and semantic rich matchmaking, in the context of web service matchmaking. An ontology in the tourism domain and ATDW (Australian Tourism Data Warehouse) Web services will be used for case study.
