The growth of Internet has significant impacts on education.
The easy access of the Internet allows student to remain home and still have access to course material.
Hence, students no longer need to physically attend classes at schools or universities.
Moreover, the Internet has developed into a media to present materials and to provide knowledge.
However, this form of education has one significant issue to be addressed: is computer-based learning as effective as conventional lectures?
The suitability of computers and Internet as a tool for learning is investigated.
The discussion on the computer-based learning is supported by a system developed in JSP (Java Servlet Pages).
The system is designed to help students to understand and learn a specific programming language, which is Java.
The layout of the pages, and interactivity is investigated to find out whether these aspects have any impact on the learning process.
Finally, the success of the implementation is discussed based on opinions from several first and second year students of University of Western Australia.
