Mobile and Wireless Computing 2009 - Essay Question 1

"The University of Western Australia has about 25,000 staff and students, most of whom live within a 40 kilometre radius of UWA's main campus.

Consider the proposal that UWA provides a Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) wireless network to its staff and students, so that laptop computers and mobile devices can access the Internet while people travel to and from UWA on public transport and, for many, while at home.

With reference to the typical requirements of UWA's staff and students, discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of deploying such a network using WiMAX technology."
