CITS1200 - Laboratory Sessions

Java Programming Lab Sessions

There will be eight lab sessions, taking place in Weeks 2-9 of the semester; four of these 8 labs are to be submitted for marking. The labs are worth 10% altogether.

The due date for the submission of each lab is 12 noon on the Sunday at the end of that particular lab week. All submissions are done electronically using the tool cssubmit.

The submission areas are named "CITS1200-Week 3 Lab", "CITS1200-Week 5 Lab" etc. so please ensure that you submit your code in the correct location.

Extensions Policy

Each student is entitled to one "no questions asked" extension during the semester. If you invoke this extension, then you will be allowed by submit your code up to 24 hours later on the following day. Any late submissions will automatically consume the "no questions asked" extension even if it is one (1) minute late.

Any additional request for an extension due to illness must be accompanied by a medical certificate (or documentary evidence for other UWA sanctioned absences, such as selection in a national sporting team).

Plagiarism Policy

In accordance with the departmental policy on plagiarism, you are hereby notified that the assessed labs are expected to be

"the sole effort of the student submitting the work."

All submissions will be automatically checked for similarity, and if necessary, you may be asked to answer questions about your code and/or reproduce your code under test conditions. Changing variable names and/or the order of methods will not fool the similarity checker, and will be treated as a deliberate attempt to evade detection.

All parties involved will be deemed equally responsible.

Supplied Code

The class SimpleCanvas.java and its documentation.

Lab Sheets

The lab sheets are posted on the Friday before the week in which the lab is to be done. Please make sure that you read them on Fridays and have done any preparatory reading/work before your actual lab time.

Laboratory Demonstrator

Dr Nick Spadaccini

Normally the lab demonstrators will be available for the entire two hours of the lab session.

You can also use the labs at any other time you wish as long as it does not interfere with other scheduled lab sessions. The laboratories are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, you will need to use your student card to enter and exit the building after hours.
